Daugbjerg Water mill
appears in old records in the year 1611, but there are indications that it is
somewhat older. In 1631, the papers state that a new outer wheel is bought -
probably the shovel wheel itself. For hundreds of years, the area's farmers
came to get the grain ground after the harvest.
During the First World
War (1914-1918), a turbine was installed in the mill, which supplied
electricity to Daugbjerg. It ceased in 1927, but the water mill was still in
use until 1950.
There is no longer noisy
machinery in the old flint buildings, but the water mill is still standing. It
is indeed a historical monument with roots dating back more than 800 years.
In 1991, Ib and Hans
Vestergård began the renovation of the mill pond and the rebuilding of the mill
in its current form with a new thatched roof, mill wheel, grinder and new
pavement around the house.
